On the occasion of the National Landscape Day a conference will take place at the State Archive Department in Terni during which a high-resolution copy of the drawing by Leonardo Da Vinci known as "Landscape with a river" will be presented.

A recent research carried by Dr. Luca Tomio with the support of the Academy for Arts and Drawing of Florence and of the Italian Ministry for Cultural Heritage identified the landscape depicted by Leonardo as a combination of two different views of the Valley of Nera River near Terni. 

The elements represented in the drawing and identified by Dr. Tomio are the hamlet of Papigno and Marmore Waterfall.

All the details os such an extraordinary discovery will be illustrated during the conference scheduled for the afternoon of Tuesday March 14th 2017 at the State Archive department in Terni.

On top of Dr. Luca Tomio, other experts will participate, such as Architect Francesco Scoppola, General Director of the Education and Research department of the Italian Ministry for Cultural Heritage, Dr. Luisa Montevecchi, Director of the Regional Secretariat of Umbria, Dr. Cristina Acidini, president of the Academy of Arts and Drawing of Florence, Dr. Roberto Lorenzetti, Director of the State Archive department in Rieti and the , art historian and expert Prof. Vittorio Sgarbi. The The conference will be introduced and coordinated by Dr. Elisabetta David, Director of the State Archive department in Terni.

In the morning of Wednesday March 15th it will be possible to admire the spectacular Marmore Waterfall depicted by Leonardo in his drawing.

Moreover, it will be possible to admire in advance the marvellous Abbey of San Pietro in Valle in Ferentillo decorated with precious frescoes dating back to XII century and containing an altarpiece with a rare Longobard bas-relief. The Abbey will officially be reopened on March 18th 2017 and is one of the sites currently investigated by Dr. Tomio for the next steps of his research.

Package will include also overnigh at a Hotel in Terni downtown and a dinner at local "trattoria" restaurant with food specialties of Soutghern Umbria.
